Parking Lot Striping & ADA FAQs
Answers to the questions we hear most from property managers, business owners, churches, and HOAs across Columbus and Central Ohio. Don’t see your question? Call (614) 324-3900 or send us a message.
How often should a parking lot be restriped?
Most lots need restriping every two to three years. High-traffic lots, lots that were recently sealcoated, and lots exposed to heavy snowplowing and road salt often need it sooner.
How much does parking lot striping cost?
Cost depends on the size of your lot, the number of stalls, whether the layout is changing, and how many ADA spaces, arrows, fire lanes, and signs you need. Use our instant online estimate or request a free on-site quote.
Can you stripe at night or on weekends?
Yes. We can schedule striping on nights and weekends so your parking lot stays open for customers during business hours.
How soon can cars drive on fresh striping?
Traffic paint typically dries within about 30 minutes to an hour, depending on temperature and humidity. We cone off fresh lines until they are ready for traffic.
Can you stripe in cold or wet weather?
Striping paint needs clean, dry pavement and suitable temperatures, generally around 50°F or warmer for most traffic paints. In Ohio, the main striping season runs from spring through fall.
Does my lot need restriping after sealcoating?
Yes. Sealcoating covers the existing lines, so the lot needs to be restriped once the sealcoat has cured. We can handle the restriping so the new layout is clean and compliant.
How many ADA accessible parking spaces does my lot need?
It depends on the total number of spaces. Under the 2010 ADA Standards, a lot with 1 to 25 spaces needs at least 1 accessible space, 26 to 50 needs 2, 51 to 75 needs 3, and 76 to 100 needs 4, with more required for larger lots. At least one of every six accessible spaces must be van-accessible. Learn more about our ADA compliance services.
How high do ADA parking signs need to be?
The bottom of an accessible parking sign must be at least 60 inches above the ground so it stays visible when a vehicle is parked in the space.
Does restriping my lot mean it has to meet current ADA standards?
Generally, yes. Restriping or altering a lot is treated as an alteration, so the new layout should meet current accessibility standards. Local requirements can vary, so check with your local building department.
What types of signs do you install?
We install ADA and van-accessible parking signs, stop and yield signs, fire lane and no parking signs, tow-away signs, reserved parking signs, directional signs, and custom signs. See our sign installation services.
Do you do warehouse floor marking?
Yes. We mark forklift lanes, pedestrian walkways, safety zones, and storage areas, and we can work nights and weekends to limit downtime. See our warehouse floor marking services.
